The International School of Peace for children and adults on Lesvos offers people in the camp the opportunity to take English courses as well as other academic courses. In addition, the School of Peace offers its younger students a special curriculum for teenagers, where they have the opportunity to improve their everyday skills.
The goal is to improve students’ confidence, academic performance as well as social skills, taught by teachers who are also living as refugees in the camp. The school therefore further promotes their teachers’ experience, creativity and demonstrates self-confidence within the community. This is also part of the goal of the School of Peace: to strengthen people’s self-confidence and assertiveness and to inspire and help them shape their lives in a positive way.
Since the beginning of 2017, over 5000 students have taken courses at the School of Peace.
